Inaam Kachachi is an Iraqi journalist and novelist who studied journalism at the University of Baghdad. She worked in Iraqi press and radio before moving to Paris to obtain a doctorate from the Sorbonne. Currently, she is a Paris-based correspondent for both the London-based newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat and the UAE-based magazine Kul Al-Osra. Inaam also wrote several novels, including the The American Granddaughter which was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2009 and translated into English, French and Chinese.

From the idea of a house that opens its door to the cultures and sciences of the peoples, to the house whose owner used to write and gather what happens in the place and outside it … the house of Abdullah Al Zayed was the first to found journalism in Bahrain with a modern press and library. He was also the first to open a cinema. He was the only editor who worked passionately to publish the weekly Bahrain Newspaper, and even encouraged aspirants to write about literature and culture.
