The roots of things run deep. The roots of voices are also the ground from which they came, and the place to which it will loyally return. The voices themselves cannot be uprooted from a house they love, nor from the throats that utter the language of song. If the art of sound had a house, it is ancient, rooted in the throat of the artist Mohamad bin Faris, and if this house had a place on the map of song, then it is in his home, that of Mohammad bin Faris, who was a pioneer in the development of Gulf music, its nuanced beauty and originality.

In the original location, and from the place from which the art of sound emanated, comes a promise of renewal in the musical heritage. The Sheikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research enables the construction of a geographical and musical memory that is wide open to the art of the sound of the Gulf and its pioneer who devoted his throat to the practice of creating beauty and the renewal of this art form. Restoration of this house was completed with the generous support of Sheikha Hussah Al Subbah and the Bahrain Batelco Company, and opened in September 2005.
